Blue Jays Host EEK In Bismarck

The Stanley Blue Jays varsity football team was the home team on Saturday, Aug. 22 when they faced Ellendale/Edgeley/Kulm at Shiloh Christian’s field in Bismarck. The Thunder was ranked number three in last week’s poll.
EEK got on the board first in the first quarter on a 27 yard rushing touchdown with the two point conversion good. They followed that up with a four yard rushing touchdown with the two point conversion failing. The Blue Jays scored on a five yard rushing touchdown by Regan Gustafson with the two point conversion good. EEK put one more touchdown on the board in the first quarter on a 60 yard run with the two point conversion good to take a 22 to 8 lead at the end of the quarter.
In the second quarter, EEK scored again on a 20 yard rush with the two point conversion good before the Blue Jay’s Jevon Johnson capitalized on a 4 yard pass from Kane Reep to score, with the two point conversion failing. The Thunder scored again on a 25 yard rush with the two point conversion good to take a 38 to 14 lead into the half-time break.
The Thunder had the lone score in the third quarter on a 42 yard passing touchdown with the two point conversion good.
In the fourth quarter, the Blue Jays scored on an eleven yard rush by Adrian Ramirez with the point after kick by Colter Fladeland good. The Thunder scored again on an eight yard rush with the two point conversion failing to leave the score at 52 to 21 in favor of the Thunder.
As a team, the Blue Jays had 256 total yards compared to 523 for EEK. Stanley had 151 passing yards and 105 rushing yards, while the Thunder had 140 passing yards and 383 rushing yards.
Each team had one turnover, with the Blue Jays throwing one interception and recovering the one Thunder fumble.
Individual stats for the Blue Jays were as follows:
Passing: Kane Reep converted 13 of 16 passing attempts for 144 yards, one touchdown, one interception; Colter Fladeland converted 1 of 5 passing attempts for 7 yards.
Rushing: Kayden Uran, 9 carries for 69 yards; Kane Reep, 3 carries for 18 yards; Ben Hynek, 4 carries for 10 yards; Regan Gustafson, 6 carries for 10 yards, 1 touchdown; Landon Hunting, 2 carries for 9 yards; Adrian  Ramirez, 1 carry for 11 yards, 1 touchdown.
Receiving: Jevon Johnson, 8 catches for 100 yards, 1 touchdown; Ben Hynek, 4 catches for 40 yards; Brody Gjellstad, 1 catch for 7 yards; Kayden Uran, 1 catch for 4 yards.
Defense: Landon Hunting, 10 tackles; Regan Gustafson, 8 tackles; Colter Fladeland, 6 tackles; Ben Hynek, 5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss; Oscar Garcia, 3 tackles; Kayden Uran, 3 tackles; Jevon Johnson, 3 tackles; Kane Reep, 2 tackles; Cooper Rismon, 2 tackles, 1 interception; Levi Uran, 2 tackles; Ace Johnson, 2 tackles; Larson Fjeldahl, 2 tackles.
