Blue Jays Drop Close Game To Lions
The Stanley Blue Jay varsity football team was on the road on Friday, Sept. 18 as they met up with the Bishop Ryan-Our Redeemer’s Lions, dropping the game in a hard-fought battle with a score of 8 to 12.
Both teams were scoreless in the first quarter, with the Lions scoring on a 16 yard pass in the second quarter with the point after failing to leave the score 6-0 in favor of the Lions at the half.
In the third quarter, the Blue Jays got on the board on a safety by Cooper Rismon to leave the score 6-2 in favor of the Lions.
The Lions got on the board first in the fourth quarter on an 82 yard rushing touchdown with the two point conversion failing. The Blue Jays scored on a 12 yard pass from Kane Reep to Ben Hynek with the two point conversion failing. That left the final score at 12 to 8 in favor of the Lions.
The Blue Jays had 180 total yards of offense, including 32 yards passing and 148 yards rushing. That compared to 206 yards for the Lions including 86 yards passing and 120 yards rushing.
The Blue Jays turned the ball over three times, twice on fumbles and once on an interception, while the Lions committed two turnovers, both on interceptions.

Passing: Kane Reep completed 9 of 22 attempts for 32 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Rushing: Kayden Uran had 94 yards on 14 carries with one fumble; Regan Gustafson, 18 carries for 47 yards; Kane Reep, 4 carries for 6 yards; and Ben Hynek, 1 carry for 1 yard.
Receiving: Regan Gustafson, 2 catches for 14 yards; Ben Hynek, 1 catch for 12 yards, 1 touchdown; Colter Fladeland, 2 catches for 11 yards; Brayden Fritel, 1 catch for 2 yards; Kayden Uran, 1 catch for -2 yards.
