Christian Crossroads Academy Hosts Dedication
With the new school year starting on August 19, families, staff, board members and community members came together at the new home of Christian Crossroads Academy in Stanley on Thursday, Aug. 13 for a grand opening dedication and convocation.
Before ceremonies began, guests were treated to music from Riley Evitt. The Stanley Commercial Club joined members of the board, teachers and staff for a ribbon cutting. That was followed by the presentation of colors by the Charles Hartman Post 134 color guard and the singing of the national anthem by Nicole Biwer.
To start the evening, they recognized Fred and Joyce Evans, whose initial vision made the school possible. They then recognized the founding board members as well as the community board, administration and educators. They also recognized key contributors, including the contractors, volunteers and donors.
As Danita Bye spoke, she said that she was so grateful for everyone attending. She read a congratulations letter from representative Julie Fedorchak.
CCA is a part of a wild storm sweeping across America as parents look for educational choices. There are currently 1,500 classical Christian schools across the country, with a belief that will double as parents, grandparents and community members ask for options.
CCA sees itself as a regional school. In addition to students from the Stanley area, they have students enrolled from New Town and Berthold, with interest also expressed in Tioga. Educators and staff are also from the region, many having traveled across the United State and internationally. Those experiences will be brought to the currently twenty students enrolled. The academy’s goal is to help these students become strong, Godly leaders.
When Bye first moved back to Stanley, she renewed her connection with Minot pastor Larry Borud. She said that he also sees that big picture of unity in the body of Christ. He is also passionate about raising Godly, kingdom minded children.
Borud spoke about the historical significance of this school opening, noting it is not a coincidence but part of the plans and purposes of God.
At a bible camp in the early 80s, he says that he found the book Body of Christ: The Reality. In the 1970s, he was also influenced by the Campus Crusade for Christ. That points to the seven mountains of influence, including the family mountain, as well as religion, business, government, education, media, and arts and entertainment mountains.
Everyone is born with a destiny and purpose. That sometimes gets lost. This school will help them discover that destiny and grow in it. Seeds are being planted to bear good fruits. This school will have an impact in turning on that light and watching it grow brighter. Education at Christian Crossroads Academy will focus on academic excellence, moral character, spiritual growth, leadership skills and creative thinking.
Borud closed the dedication with a prayer of dedication for the staff, boards, clergy and community.
