Youth Showcase Skills At 4-H Communication Arts Contest

Youth from Mountrail and Ward counties showcased their public speaking and presenting skills during the 4-H Communication Arts Contest held March 28 at the Mountrail County South Complex in Stanley.
A total of fifteen contestants participated, including Annie Carter and Callie Carter of Burlington; Avery Fannik and Paisley Rovig of Minot; Keylie Sem of Palermo; Aniyah Honrud of Ross; Nolan Lee, Tanner Lee, Thaddeus Lee, and Zane Lee of Sawyer; Addison Enerson and Oliver Goodall of Stanley; and Adalee Vickery, Hunter Vickery, and Ryker Vickery of Surrey.
The contest is divided into three age groups: Senior (ages 13-18), Junior (ages 8-12) and Cloverbud (ages 5-7).
The North Dakota 4-H Communication Arts program focuses on helping youth develop lifelong communication skills, organize and present information effectively, practice speaking before groups, and build confidence in public presentations.

All participants in the Ward and Mountrail County 4-H Communication Arts Contest are eligible to advance to their respective District 4-H Communication Arts contests.
Mountrail County youth will compete in their Multi-County Programming (MPU) district contest in Williston on May 1 alongside Burke, Divide, McKenzie, and Williams counties. Ward County youth will compete in their MPU district contest in Rugby on May 27, joining Bottineau, McHenry, Pierce, and Renville counties.
First place winners at the district level in each Junior and Senior division category (individual and team) qualify to compete at the State 4-H Communication Arts Contest, held during the North Dakota State Fair on Sunday, July 19, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Upper Atrium of the State Fair Center.
