Rib Riot Returns For Seventh Year

Rib Riot Returns For Seventh Year

The seventh annual Rib Riot returned to the Prairie Rose Golf Course in Stanley on Saturday, Sept. 26. Twelve teams cooked ribs for the Great Rib Riot of 2026. Those teams started their work early in the morning with public serving starting at 4 p.m. In addition to the ribs, there were Dutch oven sides offered as well as other sides.
Besides teams cooking, there was a giant inflatable slide and bouncy houses that were full all afternoon and evening with kids enjoying this special treat.
Once the cookers were ready, they served their ribs from their own stations, looking for the privilege of being named the People’s Choice. From there guests could make their way to the tables full of sides that included the Dutch Oven cooked treats.
This year’s cook teams were three teams from the Stanley Fire Department, Woodbury Custom Rolling, Woodbury Farm, United Quality Cooperative, three teams from ConocoPhillips, the Babbitt Family, United Agronomy, and Kevin Fjeldahl with the Stanley junior high football team and coaches.
When the rib judging was complete, Woodbury Custom Rolling claimed first place, followed by Stanley Fire One in second, and United Agronomy claimed third in a tiebreaker. The ConocoPhillips One team took home the People’s Choice Award.
Sponsored by the Stanley Rural Fire Department, the Stanley Visitors Fund and Gaming Funds, proceeds from the event will benefit the Stanley Fire Department.
This year’s Rib Riot was also made possible by the generous donations from the following: ConocoPhillips as the rib sponsor; gaming funds from the City of Ross  Hill Top Bar and Kenmare Vets; Ace Hardware; Gooseneck Implement; Birdsall Grain & Seed LLC; Reynolds Realty; Farmers Union Insurance, Brandi Larson Agency; United Agronomy; Mountrail County Promoter; BNC National Bank; Mountrail Builders; Town & Country Credit Union; Busy Bee’s; Q2 Artificial Lift Services; BBH Insurance; Bravera Bank;  Gustafson Septic Service; E&E Beef Company; Pinnacle; Stickman; Optometry Clinic, PC; Larson’s Tire Service; Border Plains Equipment; United Quality Cooperative; Badlands Hot Oil; Mike Sorenson Farm, Ross; Hollinger Farms, Lance and Kendra Hollinger; Kyle, Ashley and Addy Nichols; Nichols Farm, Randy and Bonnie Nichols; Kelly Hanson family; Mountrail Farms, Trulson family; Aaron and Ashley Skarsgard; Joyce’s Café; Woodbury Farm, John and Julie Woodbury; Rudolph Electric; Schepp Crop Insurance; Allen and Debbie Lund; Charlie and Leah Sorenson; Helgeson-Norton  Agency, Minot; TCO, Tim Johnson; Flying H Ranch, Roger and Michelle Harstad; and an anonymous donor.
