Homecoming Week At SHS
It is homecoming week in Stanley Schools. Students have different events scheduled each day, along with different dress up days.
Monday’s theme was Twin Day. Volleyball was at home, hosting DLB. Homecoming coronation was held between the junior varsity and varsity matches. This year’s homecoming court members were king candidates Logan Longmuir, Oscar Garcia, Jevon Johnson, Kolton Longmuir and Ben Hynek; and queen candidates Salomeea Simen, Kerrigan Gustafson, Alice Wienbar, Rylee Littlecreek and Mya Mortensen.
Tuesday’s theme was sports day. Cross country runners were in Kenmare.
Wednesday’s theme is country club versus country.
Thursday’s theme will see each class wearing different class colors. The homecoming pep rally will be in the afternoon starting around 1:00 p.m. on the football field. Volleyball will be at home versus Rugby.
Friday’s theme is blackout with a homecoming parade planned in the afternoon starting at the high school at 2:45 p.m. The Blue Jays will host South Prairie for the homecoming game with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. Bravera Bank will be tailgating starting at 6:00 p.m. A bonfire will follow the game.
On Saturday, Stanley’s BIO girls are teaming up with the student council in the morning for their 5K. This family fun event is open to the community to walk or run with dogs allowed. Registration will start at 9 a.m. at the Stanley High School. The proceeds will support the BIO girls program. Student council will be collecting supplies to donate to the Souris Valley Animal Shelter. Refreshments will be provided at the finish line.
The Homecoming Dance is scheduled for Saturday evening. The junior high dance will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The high school dance will be from 8:30 to 11:00 p.m.
