Bull Bash Returns To Stanley

The fourteenth annual Mountrail County Bull Bash returned to the Mountrail County Fair Building last weekend. The event included the annual bull riding, bull fighting and clown school put on by the Abrahamson Rodeo Company. The school has become a popular event for younger riders and aspiring bull fighters and clowns to hone their skills.
This bull riding event in Stanley is the second of seven events this year in the Small Town Show Down. Riders competing in all seven events have the chance to win the big prize for cumulative points.
Saturday evening’s bull riding turnout was good as things started with music by Chris Basden. The students that attended the annual school had a chance to participate in the bull riding, bull fighting and clown portions of the event, as well as the cowboys that had showed up looking to survive the eight second ride.
This year’s Small Town Showdown series started at the Leather & Lace in Watford City on New Year’s Eve. The series returns to the McKenzie County Fair on June 20, the Upper Missouri Valley Fair on June 25, Buckin’ in the Bakken in Plaza on July 17, the BCRA in Maddock in September and will wrap up back at the Leather & Lace in Watford City on New Year’s Eve.
