Wrestlers In Action In Triangular, Rugby Tournament

Stanley’s varsity boys’ wrestlers were in action twice last week. On Thursday, Jan. 16 they were in Minot for a triangular with Bishop Ryan and Mondak Thunder. They were at the Panther Booster Tournament in Rugby on Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18.

The Blue Jays faced off with the Mondak Thunder, winning 17 to 5, and the Bishop Ryan Lions, winning 54 to 24, on Thursday, Jan. 16 in Minot.

At 114 pounds, Chase Brown lost on a 15-0 tech fall at 2:00 to James Jesperson.
At 121 pounds, Regan Gustafson won by fall at 1:06 over Grayson Reid.
At 127 pounds, Cohen Bell won on an 18-0 tech fall at 3:15 over TJ Boyer.
At 133 pounds, Brayden Fritel won by forfeit with Mondak open.
The teams were open in the remaining weight classes.

At 107 pounds, Chase Brown won by forfeit with Ryan open.
At 114 pounds, Louden Haugen won by fall at 1:41 over Afton Ost.
At 121 pounds, Regan Gustafson won by forfeit with Ryan open.
At 127 pounds, Cohen Bell won by forfeit with Ryan open.
At 133 pounds, Brayden Fritel lost by fall at 1:49 to Nolan Braun.
At 139 pounds, Dane Dunham lost by fall at 5:00 to Zachary Spain.
At 145 pounds, Kane Reep won by forfeit with Ryan open.
At 152 pounds, Colter Fladeland won by forfeit with Ryan open.
At 160 pounds, Gage Mudderman won by forfeit with Ryan open.
At 172 pounds, Ace Johnson lost by fall at 1:34 to Drew Zwak.
At 189 pounds, Trey Bohmbach won by forfeit with Ryan open.
At 215 pounds, Coda Fladeland won by forfeit with Ryan open.
At 285 pounds, Levi Uran lost by fall at 1:30 to Cade Okeson.
Panther Booster Tournament
The Blue Jay boys were in action at the Panther Booster Tournament in Rugby on Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18. Velva took home first place as a team with 176 points, followed by Williams County with 159, Bowman County/Beach with 117, Kenmare with 116.5 and Watford City with 110.5. The Blue Jays finished in tenth with 88 team points.
Individual results for the Blue Jays were as follows:
At 107 pounds, Chase Brown had a bye in the first round. He lost his next match by fall at 2:10 to Braden Brossart of Rugby. After a bye in the next round, he lost his next match on a 5-3 decision to Wyatt Schaff of DLB to end his tournament action.
At 114 pounds, Louden Haugen took home the title. He won his first round by fall at 3:05 over Gallagher Wheeler of Central Cass and then won his quarterfinal match on a 13-1 major decision over Logan Heid of New Salem-Almont. In semifinals, he won on a 16-0 tech fall at 5:36 over Alex Leier of Velva. In the championship match, he won on a 17-7 major decision over John Kahl of Central Cass to take first place.
At 121 pounds, Regan Gustafson placed fifth. He had a first round bye. In quarterfinals, he lost on a 5-2 decision to Cale Schwartz of Bowman County/Beach. He came back to win his next round on a 16-0 tech fall at 2:45 over Easton Barstad of Velva and followed that up with a win by fall at 1:09 over Keegan Roehrich of Linton. In the consolation semifinal, he lost on an 8-0 major decision to Dalton Feist of Napoleon. In the fifth place match, he won by fall at 3:35 over Blake Amb of May-Port-CG.
At 127 pounds, Cohen Bell placed second. He won his first round match by fall at 1:41 over Isaac Sattler of Rugby and his quarterfinal match by fall at 1:05 over TJ Boyer of Mondak Thunder. In semifinals, he won on an 8-1 decision over Easton Hansen of DLB. In the championship match, he lost in sudden victory overtime on an 8-5 decision to Charlie Irwin of New Salem-Almont to take second.
At 133 pounds, Brayden Fritel lost his first round match by fall at 1:24 to Cutter Ouradnik of Bowman County/Beach. He came back to win his next match by fall at 5:58 over Ian McCloud of Northern Lights. He lost his next match by fall at 2:33 to Choutae Gerhardt of New Salem-Almont to end his tournament action.
At 139 pounds, Dane Dunham placed eighth. After a first round bye, he lost his match to Rowdy Mott of Watford City by fall at 3:22. He came back in the next round to win by fall at 2:27 over Kipp McDougall of Northern Lights. He lost his next match by all at 5:02 to Carson Brunelle of Williams County. In the seventh place match, he lost by fall at 2:41 to Gage Holter of Kenmare to take eighth place.
At 145 pounds, Kane Reep lost his first match by fall at 5:41 to Daniel Hoff of Bowman County/Beach. After a bye in the next round, he lost his match with Colton Becher of New Salem-Almont on a 6-2 decision to end his tournament action.
At 152 pounds, Colter Fladeland lost his first match on a 3-1 decision to Landan Spear of Kenmare and his next match on a 6-2 decision to Ayden Thummel of Central Cass to end his tournament action.
At 160 pounds, Gage Mudderman lost his first round match by fall at 1:51 to Gavin Engwicht of New Salem-Almont. He had a bye in the next round and then lost his match with Jack Smith of DLB by fall at 3:45 to end his tournament action.
At 189 pounds, Trey Bohmbach placed third. He won his first round match by fall at 1:39 over Andrew Schneider of Central Cass and followed that up with a 15-3 major decision over Noah Werner of Velva in quarterfinals. In semifinals, he lost by fall at 3:45 to Christian Mertz of Harvey-Wells County. In the consolation semifinal, he won by fall at 3:57 over Ashton Weathersby of Williams County. In the third place match, he won on a 3-2 decision over Kenny Smith of DLB to take third.
Up Next: After wrestling in Kenmare on Tuesday, Jan. 21, the Blue Jays travel to Killdeer to wrestle on Saturday, Jan. 25. The girls are set to wrestle at the Rugby tournament on Saturday, Jan. 25.
