Volleyball Team Splits Matches

Stanley’s varsity volleyball team had two matches on their schedule last week. On Tuesday, Sept. 17, the team traveled to Killdeer, posting the three set to one victory. At home on Thursday, Sept. 19, the Blue Jays lost the match two sets to three to Velva.

On the road on Tuesday, Sept. 17, the Blue Jays met up with Killdeer. Stanley dropped the first set with a score of 25 to 27, but rallied to take the next two sets with scores of 25-13 and 25-16. In the fourth set, the Blue Jays won 26-24 to claim the match.
Tylie Johnson led the team with 26 assists, followed by Halle Larson and Taya Niemitalo with 3 each.
Annie Roise had 12 kills, followed by Jordee Skaar with 11, Brenna Wenger with 8, Tylie Johnson with 2, and Trenedi Barstad with 1.
Tylie Johnson had 4 aces, followed by Trenedi Barstad and Taya Niemitalo with 3 each, Jordee Skaar with 2, and Halle Larson and McKenna Jones with 1 each.
Taya Niemitalo had 10 digs, followed by Halle Larson and Tylie Johnson with 9 each, Jordee Skaar with 6, McKenna Jones and Annie Roise with 5 each, Karley Jemtrud with 4, and Brenna Wenger with 1.
Jordee Skaar and Brenna Wenger each had 2 blocks, followed by Annie Roise with 1.

Stanley vs. Velva
The Blue Jays returned to their home court on Thursday, Sept. 19, facing the Velva Aggies. The Blue Jays won the first set with a score of 25 to 17, but Velva came back to take the next two with scores of 25-11 and 25-14. The Blue Jays tied the match back up, winning the fourth set 25 to 23. That set up the fifth and deciding set with Velva claiming the 15-8 win to take the match.
