Volleyball Team Opens With Win Over Ranchers, In Action At Hazen Tournament

The Stanley varsity volleyball team opened their season at home on Tuesday, Sept. 2 hosting the Powers Lake Ranchers. They were in action on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Beulah Tournament.

The Blue Jays opened their season at home on Tuesday, Sept. 2, when they hosted the Powers Lake Ranchers. Stanley took home the match in straight sets with scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-21.
As a team, they had 6 aces, 33 kills, 50 digs, 30 assists and 5 blocks.
Tylie Johnson led the team with 17 assists, followed by Maycee Copeland with 6, McKenna Jones with 2, and Taya Niemitalo, Dani Hermanson, Brenna Wenger, Karley Jemtrud and Annie Roise with 1 each.
Annie Roise had 9 kills, followed by Dani Hermanson with 8, Karley Jemtrud and Maycee Copeland with 5 each, Khloe Jemtrud with 4, and Brenna Wenger and Tylie Johnson with 1 each.
Khloe Jemtrud had 3 aces, followed by Brenna Wenger with 2 and Maycee Copeland with 1.
McKenna Jones had 12 digs, followed by Dani Hermanson with 8, Khloe Jemtrud and Maycee Copeland with 7 each, Karley Jemtrud and Tylie Johnson with 6 each, Brenna Wenger with 2, and Hannah Warta and Annie Roise with 1 each.
Annie Roise had 3 blocks, followed by Maycee Copeland with 1.5 and Karley Jemtrud with .5.

Beulah Tournament
The Blue Jays were in action on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Beulah Tournament. In pool play, the Blue Jays split their first match with New Salem with scores of 21-25 and 25-18. They dropped their match to Dickinson Trinity with scores of 23-25 and 21-25. In their final pool match, they defeated Watford City with scores of 25-22 and 25-21.
That sent them to the gold tournament where they faced Flasher first, dropping the match two sets to one with scores of 17-25, 25-14 and 15-17. They faced New England next, dropping again two sets to one with scores of 25-27, 25-19 and 9-15. In their final match, they met up with Hazen, losing 11-25 and 23-25.
As a team the Blue Jays had 121 assists, 129 kills, 26 aces, 229 digs and 19 blocks for the tournament.
