Track Teams Compete At NWC And Jacob Hynek Memorial Twilight Meets

It was a busy week for track teams around the state as the season gets closer to State Meet time.
Track teams were in action at the Northwest Conference Junior High/Varsity Meet at Nedrose on Thursday, May 1. On the girls’ varsity side, DLB/L&C took home the team title with 107 points, followed by Nedrose with 73, Bishop Ryan with 72.5, Max-South Prairie with 70 and Kenmare-BB rounding out the top five with 67. Stanley was sixth with 61.5; Parshall, 7th with 55.5; and New Town, 15th with 12. In the boys’ varsity, Stanley was first with 120.5 team points, followed by Powers Lake-BC with 94, Kenmare-BB with 85, New Town with 75 and Nedrose rounding out the top five with 56. Parshall was 16th with 2 team points. In the girls’ junior high, Kenmare-BB was first with 109 points, followed by Nedrose with 71.83, Stanley with 44.5, South Prairie with 43.83 and Divide County rounding out the top five with 40.83. Parshall was seventh with 29. In the boys’ junior high, Trenton was first with 89.5 points, followed by Parshall with 74.5, Williams County with 57.75, Nedrose with 45.75, and Powers Lake rounding out the top five with 26. New Town was 8th with 26 team points.
Stanley hosted the Jacob Hynek Memorial Twilight Meet on Friday, May 2. With a later start, some of the races were under the lights on the track as the event wrapped up.
On the girls’ side, Williston was first with 103 team points, followed by Powers Lake-BC with 80, Stanley with 68, DLB/L&C with 64.5 and Glenburn with 60. Parshall was seventh with 53.5. On the boys’ side, Stanley was first with 161 points, followed by Powers Lake-BC with 123, Minot North with 80, MLS with 68 and Garrison rounding out the top five with 54.5. Parshall was 9th with 18.75.
Stanley’s Ben Hynek made his second qualification for state, this time in the discus with a throw of 140-10.

100 meters: Michael Crowder of Powers Lake-BC was first with a time of 11.40. Stanley’s Drake Schlosser was second with 11.50; Zeke Wienbar, 11th with 12.11; Austin Kanenwisher, 12th with 12.17; Landon Hunting, 17th with 12.43; Jevon Johnson, 20th with 12.48; Jacob Altamirano, 43rd with 13:22; Alex Salgado, 49th with 13.64; Andrew Torres, 51st with 13.72; and Thosten Lidstrom, 51st with 13.72. New Town’s Treyvionne Williams was 19th with 12.45 and Kaiden Cooper was 55th with 13.88. Parshall’s Parker Baker was 25th with 12.58; Brendan Haakenson, 34th with 12.86; Nathaniel Baca, 37th with 12.92; and Logan Hoff, 47th with 13.57.
200 meters: Michael Crowder of Powers Lake-BC was first with a time of 23.48. Stanley’s Zeke Wienbar was 11th with 25.48; Kayden Uran, 12th with 25.59; Jevon Johnson, 21st with 26.13; Landon Hunting, 36th with 27.50; Jacob Altamirano, 43rd with 28.21; Thosten Lidstrom, 52nd with 29.58; Alex Salgado, 52nd with 29.58; and Andrew Torres, 62nd with 31.47. New Town’s Treyvionne Williams was 16th with 25.70 and Kaiden Cooper, 59th with 30.31. Parshall’s Nathaniel Baca was 30th with 26.78; Parker Baker, 32nd with 27.16; Brendan Haakenson, 34th with 27.28; and Easton Locken, 49th with 29.18.
