Track Athletes Headed To State

Track Athletes Headed To State

Area track teams had two more opportunities for athletes to advance to the State Tournament last week.
On Monday, May 12, athletes were at the Mariya Tate Memorial meet in Rugby. The North West Region Meet was moved to Saturday, May 17 at Minot High School due to the weather.
The Blue Jays qualified their 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 boys relay teams at the meet in Rugby. With the top three in each event advancing to state from the region meet, the Blue Jays qualified their boys’ 4x400 again as region champs, Drake Schlosser as the region champ in the 200m dash, Schlosser and Austin Kanenwisher in the 110m hurdles with Schlosser as the region champ. Schlosser again qualified in the 300m hurdles as the region champ, Logan Longmuir in the 400m dash, and the 4x800 relay as region champs. In the field events, Ben Hynek qualified again in the shot put adding to his discus qualification from earlier this year; Max Jackson, Landon Hunting and Landon Goettle all qualified in the pole vault. On the girls’ side, Jessa Longmuir claimed the region championship to advance in the 100m hurdles; the girls’ 4x800 relay qualified; and Payton Lystad qualified in the pole vault.

The 4x100 relay will be Oscar Garcia, Kayden Uran, Jevon Johnson and Kolton Longmuir with Austin Kanenwisher and Zeke Wienbar as the alternates. The 4x200 relay will be Oscar Garcia, Logan Longmuir, Zeke Wienbar and Kolton Longmuir with Jevon Johnson and Austin Kanenwisher as alternates.
