Runners At State Cross Country Meet
Cross country runners from across the state were in Jamestown last week for the State Cross Country Meet at the Parkhurst Recreation Area. Class B runners were in action on Friday, Oct. 24, with Class A runners taking to the course on Saturday, Oct. 25.
At the end of each day’s races, awards were presented. The Class B girls’ senior athlete of the year was Brynn Hanson of DLB and the coach of the year was Kirk Zink of Hillsboro/Central Valley. The Class B boys’ senior athlete of the year was Jonah Njos of Bowman County and the coach of the year was Jon Jahner of Bowman County.
In the girls’ race, Hillsboro/Central Valley was first with a team score of 61, followed by Bowman County with 61, Killdeer with 146, Rugby with 152 and Bottineau rounding out the top five with 201. New Town was eighth with a team score of 357. Stanley was tenth with 471. Parshall was 34th with 966.
Individually, the race featured 267 runners. Claire Grinde of Hillsboro/Central Valley was first with a time of 18:29.2. Parshall’s Haydyn Chase was 19th with 20:24.7; and Manyiah Walker, 140th with 24:17.8. Stanley’s Annie Roise was 33rd with 21:20.7; Italia Rodriguez, 43rd with 21:43.1; Jessy Roise, 76th with 22:26.2; Hadley Reum, 135th with 24:02.7; River DeTienne, 184th with 25:04.0; Teigan Moe, 206th with 25:34.6; and Mya Anderson, 251st with 27:21.8. New Town’s Shayla Hogan was 53rd with 21:58.4; Tori Hale, 55th with 22:00.4; Parker LeBeau, 59th with 22:06.5; Cedar Fitzsimmons, 64th with 22:10.4; Eva Knight, 126th with 23:51.8; Adriene Johnson, 138th with 24:10.1; Kalgaree Spotted Horse, 201st with 25:27.4; Marley Danks, 203rd with 25:31.2; Inaani Wilson, 227th with 26:19.7; and Starla McIntosh, 240th with 26:49.9.
In the boys’ race, Bowman County was first with a team score of 32, followed by New Town with 89, Kindred with 132, Shiloh Christian with 261 and Hillsboro/Central Valley rounding out the top five with 285. Stanley was 39th with 1286 and Parshall was 46th with 1440.
Individually, the race featured 366 runners. Owen Johnson of Northern Cass was first with a time of 15:44.4. New Town’s Kade Lambert was fifth with 16:55.2; Lukas Spotted Bear, 8th with 17:07.1; Tekoah Hood, 12th with 17:16.5; Louden Haugen, 23rd with 17:54.7; Brycen Bell, 41st with 18:38.7; Tracy Lyson, 91st with 19:43.4; Shylo Baker, 118th with 20:09.7; Canden Cummings, 190th with 21:00.8; and Wyatt Baker, 217th with 21:22.3. Stanley’s Payton Harper was 137th with 20:23.9; Payton Sheffield, 175th with 20:50.8; and Jason White, 239th with 21:42.5. Parshall’s Brenden Haakenson was 157th with 20:34.5; Coming Cloud Perkins, 24th with 21:46.6; Bronson Bruce, 306th with 22:30.4; and Kingston Foote, 363rd with 25:12.9.
