RPSC To Start Light Rifle And Pistol Leagues
Rolling Plains Sportsman’s Club will be running both a light rifle and .22LR pistol league at the indoor shooting range located inside The Pines in Stanley. Leagues will start on Wednesday, Jan. 15 and run through March 26.
For the light rifle league, 10 official targets must be shot. All ten can be shot in one night or spread out over the ten week period. For the pistol league, ten official sets of targets must be shot. All ten sets can be shot in one night or spread out over the ten week period.
To participate in the league, shooters must first purchase an annual membership from the RPSC, with options for single or family members. There is also an entry fee for each event with 100% of that fee as a payout. The number of winners paid will be determined by the total number of shooters. Nightly range fees will also apply.
League shooting will be set aside on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m., but targets can be shot during normal Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday evening hours at the range as well.
For the light rifle league, official targets will be supplied by the club. Each target has six bulls, five for scoring and one for sighting. Two shots will be taken at each scoring bull for a total of ten shots per target, 100 points would be a perfect score. The back of each target must be signed by someone other than the shooter to make it an “official” scoring target. Scores will be handicapped up to 92 points. Only .22LR rifles can be used in the event, but there are no restrictions on the action. Rifles must be less than 8 ½ pounds, with a trigger pull of 2 pounds. Shooting must be done from the standing unsupported position (offhand).
For the pistol league, official target “sets” will be supplied by the club. Each set will contain three targets. Each target will get ten shots. Each target will be timed using the “Bullseye Match” app. The first target will be “slow” fire, shooter is allowed ten minutes to complete ten shots. The second target will be “timed” fire, shooter is allowed 20 seconds to complete five shots, reload, and another 20 seconds to complete the second set of five shots. The third target will be “rapid” fire, shooter is allowed 10 seconds to complete five shots, reload, and another 10 seconds to complete the second set of five shots. The back of each target must be signed by someone other than the shooter to make it an “official” scoring target. Scores will be handicapped up to 92 points. Only .22LR pistols can be used in the event, but there are no restrictions on the action. Shooting must be done from the standing unsupported position, one handed.
For both leagues, optics are allowed.
