Powers Lake Watershed Project Held 8th Annual Youth Fishing Derby

On Saturday, June 1, 2024, Powers Watershed Project held its 8th Annual Youth Fishing Derby on Powers Lake. It was a nice cool day with a little too much wind, but we live in North Dakota, so we are used to that.
Fifty-three kids were registered for the beautiful day on the shores of Powers Lake. The fish didn’t cooperate, but some fish were caught.

Special raffle drawing winners for bikes were Brody Schaffner and Gage Jensen, and Keira Erickson won a Scheels gift card.
Registration gifts were donated by the North Dakota Game and Fish and American Well Service.
Raffle prizes were given out to every entrant, and they included fishing poles, tip ups, tackle boxes, hooks and lures, fishing nets, minnow buckets, gift cards and other miscellaneous items. Thank you to the sponsors that include Powers Lake Gaming Funds, Ackerman-Estvold Engineering, Scheels Sports, Johns Sand and Gravel, and John Grant.
NCC provided the grill and meal for everyone. It was very much appreciated.
We also appreciate the Powers Lake Civic Club and other community members for helping with registration, serving, taking pictures, and cleaning up.
