Cross Country Team Wraps Up Regular Season

Stanley’s cross country runners were in Killdeer for the Medicine Hole Run on Tuesday, Oct. 11 for their last regular season meet. This meet had just two races, both 3,000 meters for the boys and girls.
In the boys race, Bowman County took home the team title with a score of 16, followed by New Town with 60, Watford City with 97, Trinity Christian with 145 and Killdeer with 152 rounding out the top five. Stanley was sixth with 168.
Austin Wanner of Bowman County was first with a time of 9:49 with Bowman taking five of the top six places. Stanley’s Colter Meiers was 11th with 10:56; Cohen Bell, 31st with 11:53; Logan Neset, 32nd with 11:55; Dayne Bruhn-Glaholt, 37th with 12:03; Hugh Jackson, 57th with 12:50; Dallas Batteiger, 69th with 13:21; Logan Ruud, 87th with 14:23; and Landon Hunting, 98th with 15:39.
In the girls race, Bowman County was first with a team score of 46, followed by Watford City with 74, Killdeer with 82, New Town with 115 and Stanley with 124 rounding out the top five.
Individually, Katie Olson of Watford City was first with a time of 12:09. Stanley’s Lexi Neset was third with 12:26; Harley DeTienne, 6th with 12:56; Kaydence Vachal, 21st with 14:11; and Italia Rodriguez, 32nd with 14:46.
State Tournament
The Blue Jays will next run at the State Meet on Friday, Oct. 21.
The 2022 NDHSAA Cross Country State Meet is set for Friday, Oct. 21 for Class B and Saturday, Oct. 22 for Class A at Jamestown’s Parkhurst Campground/Pipestem Reservoir.
The Class B races will start at 3:00 p.m. for the boys and 3:45 p.m. for the girls. Awards will follow the completion of the races.
Goodie bags for the runners and their coaches are set up at the Stanley High School in the teachers’ workroom. There are 16 bags total  for runners and coaches and they will be there until Thursday morning.
