Cross Country Runners In Kenmare, Border Brawl
Cross country runners were in Kenmare on Tuesday, Sept. 23 and then traveled to Grand Forks for the Border Brawl on Saturday, Sept. 27.
Runners were at the Kenmare Country Club on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
In the boys’ varsity race, Kenmare-Bowbells was first as a team with a score of 39, followed by DLB/L&C with 54, Bishop Ryan with 78, Parshall with 162 and Powers Lake rounding out the top five with 179. Stanley was eighth with 199.
Individually, Gryphen Leier-Wangler of Bishop Ryan was first with a time of 17:44.86. Stanley’s Payton Sheffield was 18th with 21:53.58; and Jason White, 25th with 22:50.64. Parshall’s ComingCloud Perkins was 20th with 22:16.24; Bronson Bruce, 27th with 22:58.14; Brenden Haakenson, 29th with 23:33.52; Kingston Foote, 36th with 24:37.86; and Horse Perkins, 50th with 30:33.58.
In the boys’ junior varsity race, Tioga was first as a team with a score of 32, followed by MLS with 68, Kenmare-Bowbells with 81, DLB/L&C with 81, Stanley with 101 and Parshall with 114.
Individually, Cooper Hayes of Tioga was first with a time of 12:09.30. Stanley’s Payton Harper was third with 12:34.67; and Tyson Durfee, 23rd with 20:45.08. Parshall’s Calling Star Perkins was 19th with 18:20.99; and Adrias Walking Elk, 20th with 18:37.67.
In the girls’ varsity race, DLB/L&C was first with a score of 51, followed by Kenmare-Bowbells with 57, Stanley with 85, MLS with 101 and Parshall rounding out the top five with 137.
Individually, Brynn Hanson of DLB/L&C was first with a time of 20:27.83. Parshall’s Haydyn Chase was fifth with 21:16.64; and Manyiah Walker, 22nd with 26:15.08. Stanley’s Annie Roise was 7th with 22:11.61; Jessy Roise, 9th with 22:43.45; Hadley Reum, 17th with 24:50.42; and River DeTienne, 18th with 24:54.92.
In the girls’ junior varsity race, DLB/L&C was first with a score of 44, followed by MLS with 54, Tioga with 63 and Stanley with 67.
Individually, Vivvy Anderson of DLB/L&C was first with a time of 13:49.77. Parshall’s Nevaeh Packineau was 4th with 15:08.95. Stanley’s Kaylynn Jones was 9th with 16:57.17; and Corra Parkinson, 13th with 20:40.92.
Teams converged on Grand Forks for the Border Battle on Saturday, Sept. 27. This all day meet draws teams from across the states of North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. It included sixth grade, seventh grade, and eighth grade races to start the day. That was followed by varsity girls in both A and AA divisions, varsity boys in both divisions and then junior varsity girls and boys.
In the seventh grade boys’ race, Shanley was first with a score of 18, followed by Williston with 42, Sheyenne with 43, Bemidji with 82, and Ada-Borup-West rounding out the top five with 89. New Town was seventh with a score of 93.
Individually Gage Selby of Grand Forks Central was first with a time of 10:40.5. New Town’s Dane Young Bird was 7th with 11:24.8; Greyson Luger, 50th with 12:40.1; Jameson Irwin, 60th with 12:56.7; Elvis Hogan, 76th with 13:18.1; and Kyson Looking Horse, 146th with 16:04.0.
In the eighth grade boys’ race, Century was first with a team score of 11, followed by Grand Forks Central with 34, Perham with 41, Horizon with 49 and Detroit Lakes rounding out the top five with 55.
Individually, Lucas Elsberry of Century was first with a time of 10:18.6. New Town’s Wyatt Baker was 22nd with 11:21.3; and Andres Villafuerte, 82nd with 13:12.9.
In the varsity boys’ race, Bowman County was first with a team score of 35, followed by Sauk Centre with 139, Wadena-Deer Creek with 167, Greenway/Nashwauk/Keewatin with 175, and Hawley with 186. New Town was 10th with 316.
Individually, Owen Johnson of Northern Cass was first with a time of 15:36.5. New Town’s Tekoah Hood was 21st with 17:15.2; Louden Haugen, 30th with 17:42.9; Lukas Spotted Bear, 52nd with 18:14.3; Brycen Bell, 124th with 19:30.2; and Shylo Baker, 136th with 19:41.1. Stanley’s Jason White was 205th with 20:50.7; Payton Sheffield, 215th with 21:01.9; and Payton Harper, 218th with 21:03.4. Parshall’s Brenden Haakenson was 238th with 21:48.5; and Memphis Walking Elk, 272nd with 23:03.0.
In the sixth grade girls’ race, Williston was first with a score of 7, followed by Kindred with 24, Sheyenne with 26 and Horizon with 29.
Individually, Kynslie McCoy of Williston was first with a time of 5:58.7. New Town’s Hadley Drosdal was fourth with 6:31.5.
In the seventh grade girls’ race, Horizon was first with a score of 23, followed by Sheyenne with 31, Devils Lake with 45, Horace with 51 and Bemidji with 61.
Peyton Thompson of Red River was first with a time of 11:30.5. New Town’s Parker LeBeau was 13th with 12:44.0; and Marley Danks, 54th with 14:16.5. Parshall’s Manyiah Walker was 41st with 13:45.3.
In the varsity girls’ race, Hillsboro/Central Valley was first with a score of 56, followed by Bowman County with 69, Rugby with 145, Riverside Christian with 200 and Clark/Willow Lake with 209. Stanley was 28th with 615.
Individually, Claire Grinde of Hillsboro/Central Valley was first with a time of 18:07.1. Parshall’s Haydyn Chase was 22nd with 20:28.4. Stanley’s Italia Rodriguez was 54th with 21:41.9; Hadley Reum, 135th with 23:47.7; River DeTienne, 138th with 23:50.3; Mya Anderson, 203rd with 26:03.3; and Teigan Moe, 212th with 26:56.5.
In the junior varsity girls’ race, Perham was first with a score of 31, followed by Century with 55, Sioux Falls Lincoln with 117, Shanley with 143 and Moorhead with 160. New Town was 20th with 529.
Individually, Tilly Mathies of Perham was first with a time of 20:16.2. New Town’s Shayla Hogan was 23rd with 21:34.1; Adriene Johnson, 75th with 23:08.2; Inaani Wilson, 226th with 26:19.5; Starla McIntosh, 233rd with 26:30.9; and Shaya Heart, 296th with 29:40.7.
