Blue Jays Season Ends At Districts

The Stanley Blue Jays season came to an end on Monday, Nov. 4 at the District 16 Tournament at the Divide County High School when they dropped their match to the Powers Lake Ranchers in the region qualifying match.
The Ranchers claimed the match in straight sets with scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-21.
Individual stats for the Blue Jays were as follows:
Tylie Johnson had 21 assists.
Brenna Wenger and Annie Roise each had 6 kills, followed by Danica Hermanson and Taya Niemitalo with 4 each, Tylie Johnson and Brinley Larson with 3 each, and Jordee Skaar with 2.
Karley Jemtrud had 3 aces, followed by McKenna Jones with 2, and Brenna Wenger, Danica Hermanson and Tylie Johnson with 1 each.
Karley Jemtrud had 20 digs, followed by Taya Niemitalo with 10, Danica Hermanson with 9, Tylie Johnson and McKenna Jones with 7 each, Halle Larson and Annie Roise with 3 each, Brenna Wenger and Maycee Copeland with 2 each, and Brinley Larson with 1.
Brenna Wenger had 2 blocks, followed by Danica Hermanson, Annie Roise and Taya Niemitalo with 1 each.

As the tournament wrapped up on Monday night, season and tournament awards were announced.
The District 16 regular season and tournament champions were the Kenmare/Bowbells Honkers.
Named to the All District team for their regular season play were Audrina Fortier of Divide County; Anne Stroklund, Lilibeth Santizo, Taya Aufforth, Brea Chrest and Presley Zeltinger of Kenmare/Bowbells; Jocelyn Puckett and Avah Bullinger of Powers Lake-Burke Central; Myia Knox and Brinlee Cancade of Ray; Annie Roise of Stanley; and Cheryl Hayes of Tioga.
Named to the All Tournament team were Taya Aufforth, Presley Zeltinger, Anne Stroklund and Lilibeth Santizo of Kenmare/Bowbells; Avah Bullinger and Jocelyn Puckett of Powers Lake-Burke Central; Myia Knox and Brinlee Cancade of Ray; and Kambree Johnson and Cheryl Hayes of Tioga.
The District 16 Senior Athlete of the Year award went to Anne Stroklund of Kenmare/Bowbells and the Coach of the Year went to Tim Wallstrum of Kenmare/Bowbells. The Spirit Award went to Divide County.
Region 8 Tournament action kicked off on Monday, Nov. 11 at Williston State College. In first round action, Kenmare/Bowbells posted the win over Alexander, Ray topped Parshall, and Trenton defeated Powers Lake-Burke Central in straight sets. Tioga came out on top of New Town in five sets. Winners advanced to semifinal action on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The championship will be determined on Thursday, Nov. 14.
