Blue Jays Run At State

The Stanley Blue Jay cross country runners were in action on Friday, Oct. 21 at Jamestown’s Parkhurst Campground/Pipestem Reservoir for the State Class B Meet.
As a team, the Blue Jay girls finished in seventh place this year, with Lexi Neset earning All State honors with her 19th place finish. The Blue Jay boys finished in twelfth place as a team.
In the boys’ race, Bowman County took home first place as a team with a score of 18 and five runners in the top six. Kindred was second with 111, New Town was third with 112, Hillsboro/Central Valley was fourth with 149 and Rugby was fifth with 259. The Blue Jays were twelfth with 446. New Town had three runners: Xavier Bell, Lander Lahtinen and Colt Spotted Bear earn All State honors with their top twenty finish.
Individually, Austin Wanner of Bowman County was first with a time of 16:04.54. For the Blue Jays Colter Meiers was 34th with 18:12.19; Cohen Bell, 46th with 18:24.53; Dayne Bruhn-Glaholt, 87th with 19:17.39; Logan Neset, 114th with 19:50.33; Dallas Batteiger, 165th with 20:36.86; Hugh Jackson, 180th with 20:53.80; Logan Ruud, 288th with 24:01.23; and Landon Hunting, 320th with 25:57.78. There were 335 runners in the boys’ race.
In the girls’ race, Rugby took home first place with a team score of 89, followed by Bowman County with 118, Hillsboro/Central Valley with 151, Kindred with 227 and Grafton with 268 rounding out the top five. The Blue Jays finished in seventh with a score of 300. 
Individually, Brynn Hanson of DLB-Lewis & Clark took home the state title with a time of 18:57.49. For the Blue Jays, Lexi Neset was 19th with 20:44.97; Harley DeTienne, 23rd with 20:53.24; Savaejah Aune, 70th with 22:27.81; Kaydence Vachal, 77th with 22:36.09; and Italia Rodriguez, 111th with 23:15.00. There were 261 runners in the girls’ race.
