Blue Jays Post Win Over Tioga

The Blue Jays varsity boys’ basketball team had one game on their schedule last week as they traveled to Tioga on Tuesday, Dec. 30. The team started out with a strong 18 to 2 lead at the end of the first quarter, with Tioga coming back in the second quarter to cut the lead to nine at the half. The Blue Jays used a strong third quarter on their way to the 51 to 44 victory.
Head coach Kory Anderson said, “The Tioga game was a tale of runs. We started hot on offense, and intentional on defense. The boys did a great job keeping the ball out of the paint in the first quarter causing Tioga to have difficulty scoring early. The second quarter was different. Either we got tired or were less focused but Tioga was able to get into the paint much easier and that caused us trouble. The boys started the third quarter much like the first. Overall, the boys continue to challenge each other at practice and are understanding the importance of us fighting to keep the ball out of the paint on defense.”
Austin Kanenwisher led the team with 23 points, followed by Jevon Johnson with 16, Ashton Peterson with 6, Zeke Wienbar with 4 and Landon Hunting with 2.
