Blue Jays Open Season At Home Against Rugby

The Stanley Blue Jay varsity football team opened their season at home on Friday, Aug. 21 when they hosted the Rugby Panthers.
The Panthers got on the board first, scoring on a four yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter with the two point conversion failing. They also scored in the second quarter on a 28 yard pass with the two point conversion failing to take a 12-0 lead into the half. The Panthers scored again in the third quarter on a 2 yard rush with the two point conversion failing. Their final score came in the fourth quarter on a fourteen yard rush with the two point conversion good. The Blue Jays’ lone score in the game came in the fourth quarter on a 23 yard pass from Kane Reep to Ben Hynek. The point after kick by Colter Fladeland was no good, with the final score 26-6 in favor of the Panthers.
The Blue Jays had 107 yards of total offense with 99 yards passing and 8 yards rushing. The Panthers had 308 yards of offense including 87 passing yards and 221 rushing yards.
The Blue Jays recovered two turnovers, one each on an interception and a fumble, while committing no turnovers themselves.

Passing: Kane Reep converted 5 of 17 attempts for 99 yards and one touchdown.
Rushing: Kayden Uran, 9 rushes for 11 yards; Regan Gustafson, 3 rushes for 1 yard; and Kane Reep, 5 rushes for -4 yards.
Receiving: Jevon Johnson, 3 catches for 66 yards; Ben Hynek, 1 catch for 23 yards and one touchdown; Austin Kanenwisher, 1 catch for 10 yards.
Defense: Regan Gustafson, 8 tackles; Kayden Uran, 8 tackles; Ben Hynek, 7 tackles; Oscar Garcia, 7 tackles, 1 interception; Hunter Warta, 6 tackles; Landon Hunting, 5 tackles; Levi Uran, 4 tackles; Jevon Johnson, 4 tackles; Austin Kanenwisher, 4 tackles, 1 sack; Cooper Rismon, 4 tackles, 1 fumble recovery; Logan Longmuir, 3 tackles; Brayden Fritel, 2 tackles; Kane Reep, 2 tackles; Colter Fladeland, 2 tackles; Kolton Longmuir, 1 tackle; Coda Fladeland, 1 tackle; and Weston Peloquin, 1 tackle.

This year’s Blue Jay team is senior heavy with 16 seniors on the roster. That includes Kayden Uran, Oscar Garcia, Kane Reep, Brayden Fritel, Ben Hynek, Logan Longmuir, Austin Kanenwisher, Jevon Johnson, Kolton Longmuir, Hunter Warta, Landon Hunting, Denim Dunham, Eli Brewer, Levi Uran, James Kennedy and Devon Wittmayer. Juniors on this year’s team are Colter Fladeland, Cooper Rismon, Francisco Rodriguez and Elliott Seibel. Sophomores are Chase Brown, Zeke Wienbar, Adrian Ramirez, Regan Gustafson, Dane Dunham, Weston Peloquin, Ace Johnson, Jake Germundson and Grayson Lindberg. Freshmen are Corbin Reep, Larson Fjeldahl, Brody Gjellstad, Asher Batteiger, Payden Hunting, Anthony Nardacci, Coda Fladeland and Trey Smith.
Jaxton Lorenz is the Blue Jays’ head coach. Assistant and junior high coaches are Dave Leith, Drew Nichols, Kellen Leupp, Caleb Mortensen, Blair Hynek, Lionie Fladeland, Rocky Fladeland, Kevin Fjeldahl, Adam Jarmin and Matt Ruland.
