Blue Jay Volleyball Team Splits Matches

The Blue Jay volleyball team had two matches on their schedule last week. They hosted Tioga on Tuesday, Oct. 21 for their annual Dig Pink night. The Blue Jays claimed the match in a hard-fought five set match. On Thursday, Oct. 23, they were on the road to play South Prairie-Max, with the Blue Jays losing in another hard-fought five set match.
Stanley vs. Tioga
The Blue Jays hosted the Tioga Lady Pirates on Tuesday, Oct. 21. This was a match that went the distance. Tioga claimed the first set with a score of 26-24 with the Blue Jays rallying back to take the second set with a score of 28-26. The teams again traded sets with Tioga taking the third set 25 to 23 and Stanley taking the fourth set 25 to 19. That set up the fifth and deciding set with the Blue Jays taking the 15-10 win to claim the match.
The Blue Jays had 47 assists, 54 kills, 9 aces, 98 digs and 10 blocks in this match.
Tylie Johnson led the team with 22 assists, followed by Maycee Copeland with 19, Khloe Jemtrud with 2, and Dani Hermanson, Brenna Wenger, Karley Jemtrud and McKenzie Bohrer with 1 each.
Dani Hermanson had 17 kills, followed by Annie Roise with 12, Taya Niemitalo with 10, Brenna Wenger with 8, Tylie Johnson with 3, Maycee Copeland with 2, and Karley Jemtrud and Khloe Jemtrud with 1 each.
Tylie Johnson and Annie Roise each had 3 aces, followed by Dani Hermanson with 2 and Karley Jemtrud with 1.
Dani Hermanson had 25 digs, followed by Khloe Jemtrud with 23, Maycee Copeland with 19, Tylie Johnson with 14, Karley Jemtrud with 8, Brenna Wenger with 4, McKenzie Bohrer with 3, and Taya Niemitalo and Annie Roise with 1 each.
Annie Roise had 5 blocks, followed by Brenna Wenger with 2, Taya Niemitalo with 1.5, Maycee Copeland with 1, and McKenzie Bohrer and Tylie Johnson with .5 each.

Stanley vs. South Prairie-Max
The Blue Jays were on the road in Max on Thursday, Oct. 23 to face the number one ranked South Prairie-Max Royals. The Blue Jays faced their second five set match in three days as they battled throughout. The teams traded sets for the first four sets with Stanley taking sets one and three with scores of 25-22 and 25-21. The Royals took the second and fourth sets with scores of 27-25 and 25-20. That set up the fifth and deciding set with the Royals coming out on top with a score of 15-10 to claim the match.
The Blue Jays had 39 assists, 42 kills, 8 aces, 84 digs and 10 blocks in this match.
Maycee Copeland led the team with 20 assists, followed by Tylie Johnson with 17, and Taya Niemitalo and Karley Jemtrud with 1 each.
Dani Hermanson had 16 kills, followed by Annie Roise with 12, Brenna Wenger with 5, Taya Niemitalo with 4, Karley Jemtrud with 3 and Maycee Copeland with 2.

Brenna Wenger had 4 blocks, followed by Annie Roise with 3, Taya Niemitalo with 1.5, Maycee Copeland with 1, and Karley Jemtrud with .5.
