Blue Jay Girls Drop Two
Stanley’s varsity girls’ basketball team had two games on their schedule last week, both on the road. On Tuesday, Jan. 7, they faced the Watford City Wolves, dropping the game by a score of 29 to 60. On Saturday, Jan. 11, they were in Dickinson to face the Trinity Titans, dropping that game 39 to 59.
Stanley vs. Watford City
On the road on Tuesday, Jan. 7, the Blue Jays met up with the Watford City Wolves. Watford City got out to a hot start, holding a 24 to 3 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Wolves held the Blue Jays to just 7 first half points on their way to the 60 to 29 victory.
As a team, Stanley made 10 of their 33 two point attempts and 2 of their 10 three point attempts. They converted 3 of their 7 free throws. Watford City made 19 of their 44 two point, 6 of their 21 three point, and 4 of their 14 free throw attempts.

Stanley vs. Dickinson Trinity
On Saturday, Jan. 11, the Blue Jays were again on the road, this time in Dickinson to face the Dickinson Trinity Titans. The Titans held a nine point lead at the end of the first quarter, extending it to eleven at the half. They added to their lead in the remaining two quarters on their way to the 59 to 39 victory.
As a team, Stanley made 11 of their 46 two point attempts and 3 of their 10 three point attempts. They converted 8 of their 9 free throws. Trinity made 20 of their 51 two point, 5 of their 14 three point, and 4 of their 6 free throw attempts.
The Blue Jays had 13 offensive and 20 defensive rebounds. They had 11 assists, 11 steals and 3 blocks. They committed 15 turnovers. The Titans had 19 offensive and 27 defensive rebounds, 16 assists, 10 steals, 1 block, and committed 16 turnovers.
