Blue Jay Girls Drop Three Games

Stanley’s varsity girls’ basketball team had three games on their schedule last week, all at home. On Tuesday, Feb. 10, they hosted the DLB Lakers, dropping the game with a score of 49 to 63. On Thursday, Feb. 12, they hosted Dunseith, losing by a score of 54 to 75. On Friday, Feb. 13, the South Prairie Royals came to town, claiming the 86 to 49 win.

At home on Tuesday, Feb. 10, the Blue Jays hosted the DLB Lakers. The Blue Jays held a four point lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Lakers came back in the second quarter to take a three point lead into the half. DLB continued to outscore Stanley in the second half on their way to the 63 to 49 victory.
As a team, Stanley made 9 of their 24 two point and 8 of their 21 three point attempts. They converted 7 of their 17 free throws. The Lakers made 11 of their 36 two point, 6 of their 25 three point, and 23 of their 34 free throw attempts.
The Blue Jays had 5 offensive and 21 defensive rebounds. They had 12 assists, 10 steals and 3 blocks. They committed 20 turnovers. DLB had 22 offensive and 27 defensive rebounds, 13 assist, 17 steals, 5 blocks, and committed 14 turnovers.

Stanley vs. Dunseith
Stanley hosted Dunseith on Thursday, Feb. 12 in a game that had been rescheduled from earlier in the season due to weather. The Dragons got out to a 42 to 20 lead at the half. Although the Blue Jays cut that lead by thirteen at the end of the third quarter, it was not enough as Dunseith went on to win by a score of 75 to 54.
As a team, Stanley made 12 of their 42 two point and 4 of their 27 three point attempts. They made 18 of their 27 free throw attempts. Dunseith made 21 of their 41 two point, 7 of their 26 three point, and 12 of their 21 free throw attempts.
The Blue Jays had 12 offensive and 25 defensive rebounds. They had 8 assists and 13 steals. They committed 13 turnovers. Dunseith had 18 offensive and 39 defensive rebounds, 16 assists, 10 steals, 3 blocks, and committed 24 turnovers.

Stanley vs. South Prairie
The Blue Jays had their last home game of the season on Friday, Feb. 13 when they hosted number one ranked South Prairie. This was a game that belonged to the Royals as they held a 53 to 20 lead at the half on their way to the 86 to 49 victory.
Stanley made 9 of their 33 two point, 9 of their 27 three point, and 4 of their 6 free throw attempts. South Prairie made 26 of their 56 two point, 6 of their 15 three point, and 16 of their 20 free throw attempts.

Up Next: After traveling to New Town on Monday, Feb. 16, the Blue Jays’ next action will be in the Region 3 Tournament. Action is set to tip off on Monday, Feb. 23 at the Minot State University Dome. Stanley will play South Prairie in the first game of the day at 3:00 p.m., followed by Bottineau vs. Dunseith, Turtle Mountain vs. Nedrose, and ending with Rugby vs. DLB. Winners advance to semifinal action on Tuesday, Feb. 24 starting at 5:30 p.m. The third place game starts at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, followed by the championship game.
