Blue Jay Girls Drop Games To Dunseith And Bottineau

The Blue Jay varsity girls’ basketball team was on the road last week. On Monday, Feb. 10, they traveled to Dunseith, dropping the game by a score of 43 to 56. On Thursday, Feb. 13, they traveled to Bottineau, dropping the game 40 to 73.

On the road on Monday, Feb. 10, the Blue Jays faced the Dunseith Dragons. The Dragons led by three at the half, but used a strong third quarter to take a twelve point lead on their way to the 56 to 43 victory.
As a team, Stanley made 16 of their 52 two point attempts and 1 of their 12 three point attempts. They made 8 of their 15 free throws. Dunseith made 11 of their 44 two point, 5 of their 19 three point and 19 of their 26 free throw attempts.
The Blue Jays had 14 offensive and 35 defensive rebounds. They had 6 assists, 7 steals and 5 blocks. They committed 21 turnovers. The Dragons had 13 offensive and 34 defensive rebounds, 11 assists, 8 steals, 5 blocks and committed 14 turnovers.
Taya Niemitalo led the team with 10 points, followed by Annie Roise and Brinley Larson with 8 each, CeeJay Bohmbach with 6, Lexi Neset with 5, Jacee Johnson with 4 and Tylie Johnson with 2.
Annie Roise had 9 rebounds, followed by Taya Niemitalo and Lexi Neset with 7 each, Payton Lystad and Brinley Larson with 6 each, CeeJay Bohmbach with 4, Jacee Johnson and Tylie Johnson with 2 each, and Harley DeTienne and Teigan Moe with 1 each.
Taya Niemitalo had 2 assists, followed by Jacee Johnson, Teigan Moe, Annie Roise and Brinley Larson with 1 each.
Brinley Larson had 3 steals, followed by Jacee Johnson with 2, and Taya Niemitalo and Lexi Neset with 1 each.

Stanley vs. Bottineau
The Blue Jays were on the road again on Thursday, Feb. 13 as they traveled to face the Bottineau Stars. While Bottineau led by four at the end of the first quarter, they outscored Stanley 25 to 7 in the second and 16 to 6 in the third on their way to the 73 to 40 win.
As a team, Stanley made 10 of their 32 two point attempts and 5 of their 16 three point attempts. They converted 5 of their 8 free throw attempts. Bottineau made 25 of their 59 two point, 5 of their 15 three point, and 8 of their 20 free throw attempts.
The Blue Jays had 9 offensive and 22 defensive boards. They had 14 assists, 9 steals and 4 blocks. They committed 27 turnovers. The Stars had 24 offensive and 26 defensive rebounds, 19 assists, 14 steals, 1 block and committed 12 turnovers.
