Blue Jay Girls Drop Game To TGU

Blue Jay Girls Drop Game To TGU

The Stanley Blue Jays girls were in action at the Dale Brown Hoopster Classic at the Minot State University Dome on Saturday, Dec. 27. They faced TGU in the second game on the three day schedule, losing by a score of 36 to 64.
Head coach Kendell Hunt said, “I’m proud of how our girls came out strong and jumped to an 8-2 lead early in the game. Unfortunately, we hit a cold stretch where it felt like there was a lid on the basket as we missed a lot of bunnies. We handled TGU’s press much better than in other games this season, which is a positive step, but we still need to focus on changing speeds in transition to break it even more effectively. Playing in the Dome with the college three-point line definitely affected our shooting rhythm, as we were stepping back three to four feet farther than our usual high school line on many attempts. There are plenty of things to build on as we move forward and keep our focus on the marathon not the sprint.”
Taya Niemitalo led the team with 13 points, followed by CeeJay Bohmbach and Annie Roise with 5 each, Payton Lystad, Kiplee Nordloef and Kennedi Murphy with 3 each, and Evy Davis and Carly Rismon with 2 each.
Annie Roise had 11 rebounds, followed by Taya Niemitalo and Payton Lystad with 4 each, CeeJay Bohmbach and Maycee Copeland with 2 each, and Carly Rismon, Kiplee Nordloef and Kennedi Murphy with 1 each.
Payton Lystad and Kiplee Nordloef each had 2 assists, followed by Taya Niemitalo, Teigan Moe and Kennedi Murphy with 1 each.
Taya Niemitalo and CeeJay Bohmbach each had 3 steals, followed by Payton Lystad with 2, and Annie Roise and Kennedi Murphy with 1 each.
