Blue Jay Boys Team Drops Two
Stanley’s varsity boys’ basketball team had two games on their schedule last week. On Tuesday, Feb. 10, the Blue Jays were in Ray, dropping the game by a score of 33 to 82. On Thursday, Feb. 12, they traveled to Dunseith, losing by a score of 37 to 69.
On the road on Thursday, Feb. 12, the Blue Jays met up with the Dunseith Dragons. Dunseith held a 37 to 13 lead at the half on their way to the 69 to 37 victory.
Head coach Kory Anderson said, “We had our chance early in the first half but missed too many close range shots and struggled after that. The boys did a good job the second half fighting through their frustrations. We scored it better but struggled to get the stops we needed against a sharp shooting Dunseith team.”
Ben Hynek led the team with 14 points, followed by Jevon Johnson with 7, Landon Hunting with 5, Austin Kanenwisher with 4, Ashton Peterson with 3, and Tyke Barstad and Landon Goettle with 2 each.
