Blue Jay Boys Post Win Over Trenton
Stanley’s varsity boys’ basketball team had just one game on their schedule last week. They traveled to Trenton on Thursday, Jan. 20 to play a game that had been added to their schedule.
The Blue Jays led by 12 at the end of the first quarter, but the Tigers rallied to cut that lead to four at the half. Stanley added three to their lead in the third quarter and had a strong fourth on their way to the 60 to 44 win.
As a team, Stanley made 24 of their 58 shot attempts for 41%, including 20 of 46 two point and 4 of 12 three point attempts. They converted 8 of their 13 free throw attempts for 62%. That compared to 15 of 31 shooting for Trenton, including 9 of their 16 two point and 6 of their 15 three point attempts. They made 8 of their 11 free throws.
The Blue Jays pulled down 24 total rebounds including 13 offensive and 11 defensive boards. They had 12 assists, 8 blocks and 15 steals. They turned the ball over just 4 times.
