Blue Jay Boys Drop Games To Standing Rock And Thompson

The Stanley Blue Jays varsity boys’ basketball team had two games on their schedule to end December, dropping both of them.
Stanley vs. Standing Rock
On Saturday, Dec. 21, they were on the road facing Standing Rock. The Warriors got out to a quick start, putting up a nine point lead at the end of the first quarter. While the two teams were even in scoring in the second and third quarters, the Blue Jays were unable to cut into the lead as Standing Rock claimed the game with a score of 53 to 40.
The Blue Jays made 13 of their 33 two point attempts and 2 of their 16 three point attempts. They converted 8 of their 12 free throws. The Warriors made 14 of their 32 two point attempts, 6 of their 21 three point, and 7 of their 11 free throw attempts.
Stanley had 8 offensive and 21 defensive rebounds. They had 4 assists, 8 steals and 3 blocks. They committed 15 turnovers. That compared to 13 offensive and 28 defensive boards, 8 assists, 5 steals and 16 turnovers for Standing Rock.
Drake Schlosser led the team with 19 points, followed by Bennett Larson with 11, Ben Hynek with 8 and Austin Kanenwisher with 2.
Bennett Larson had 11 rebounds, followed by Drake Schlosser with 5, Austin Kanenwisher, Jevon Johnson and Kade Snyder with 3 each, and Ben Hynek with 2.
Jevon Johnson had 2 assists, followed by Drake Schlosser and Bennett Larson with 1 each.
Drake Schlosser and Austin Kanenwisher each had 3 steals, followed by Jevon Johnson and Kade Snyder with 1 each.
Bennett Larson had 2 blocks, followed by Ben Hynek with 1.

Stanley vs. Thompson
The Blue Jays were in action at the Hoopster Classic in Minot on Saturday, Dec. 28, when they faced the Thompson Tommies. With both teams in single digits in the first quarter, Thompson held a three point lead at the half. They extended on their lead in the second half to take the 45 to 37 victory.
