Bell Competes With ND State Team

Stanley’s Cohen Bell was asked to be a part of the Dakota Hillbillies state wrestling team again this year. This is the third year he has competed, representing the state. The team traveled to Des Moines, IA, in April. The Dakota Hillbillies took second place in the tournament, going undefeated in pool play and then losing their final dual in the gold tournament.
Bell earned All American honors finishing with a 6 win, 2 loss record in the nine rounds of wrestling. He wrestled at 126 pounds for the junior/senior team.
In the first round, Bell won by fall at 3:22 over Eli Rieb of the Iowa Grey team. He won his second round match by fall at 1:30 over Landon Orthman of Montana Gold. He lost his third round match by fall at 4:37 to Tyler Woodring of SD Renegades. In the fourth round, he won by fall at 1:06 over Grady Phelp of TN RRTC. The fifth round saw his other loss on an 11-3 major decision to Ryan Bahnson of Iowa Gold. In the team’s sixth round, he won on a 10-0 tech fall over Troy Finnegan of Iowa Blue. He had a bye in the seventh round. In round eight, he won by fall at 2:58 over Cael Lemar of Blood & Money All Stars. In the championship match, he won at his weight class on a 10-6 decision over Jayce Curry of Iowa Black.
