Annual White Earth Rodeo Held

Annual White Earth Rodeo Held

The White Earth Valley Saddle Club hosted a very busy weekend last weekend with their 67th Annual Rodeo and the 17th Annual Queen Pageant. Friday started with the annual queen pageant during the day and ND05 NBGA barrel racing in the evening. Rodeo action took center stage on Saturday with slack in the afternoon and an evening performance. Sunday morning started with Cowboy Church, followed by slack and the afternoon performance. The women’s ranch bronc rodeo riders returned to this year’s rodeo as part of both Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon’s performances. Both Friday and Saturday night featured dances with Bill Falcon and the Good Medicine Band.
Saturday evening’s performance started with the grand entry with draft horse teams pulling carriages and wagons with guests. The traditional empty saddle ride this year paid tribute to those WEVSC members that passed in 2023 and 2024 including Lyndon Eide, Maynard Iverson, Delores Marmon, Dorvan Solberg, Rod Westrum, Dylan Chamley, and honorary members Carmen Ruud, Alex Ruud and Garrett Hoelscher. Ty Nichols performed the National Anthem to open the evening’s rodeo performance.
This year’s Junior Miss Rodeo White Earth Valley is Kayel Miller of Flaxton, ND. The 2024 Little Miss Rodeo White Earth Valley is Nora Johnson of Plaza, ND. (Pictures of the queen pageant winners are courtesy of Marci Jo Photography of Bismarck, this year’s official photographer for the rodeo.)
The Shovel Race buckle winner on Saturday was JD Woodbury pulling Kinsey Woodbury. Sunday’s winner was JD Woodbury pulling Luke Ottesen.
