Wilson Park Take Away Cafe Opens

Wilson Park Take Away Cafe Opens

It has taken more than a year, but Wilson Park Take Away Cafe on Main Street in Stanley opened on Thursday, Jan. 12 for the first time. Last week was busy as customers learned they were open and decided to give it a shot. During the day they are seeing people that work on Main Street and the surrounding area, but their customer base has been growing as word spreads about the opening.
Mother and daughter, Rachel Lonier and Ryann Niemitalo are offering a homemade meal option for diners from Monday through Saturday at the restaurant. The menu features homemade soups, sandwiches and fresh salads throughout the day with a homemade casserole at lunch as well. A heavier casserole or homemade side dish is on the menu at supper.
The pair has worked out sharing the duties with Ryann spending much of her time working on the grill and bakery side, while Rachel is focusing on the salads, sides and customer service.
All of their foods are homemade from scratch, using recipes that have been in the family as well as personal recipes they have developed over the years. They are still working on finding the perfect balance between what their customers want and how much they should prepare each day. They also know that some of their recipes may be the foods they love, but customers may not know yet.
Ryann is also focusing on having a different baked good each day, but as soon as she gets them made they are going out. She says that her specialties include cookies, especially her sugar cookies, and cupcakes. She has started putting Oreos on the bottom of some of those cupcakes and they are a hit with her customers. She also says she wants to start offering homemade bread, using the same recipe her grandmother has used, but that is something that is still in the learning process.
