Stanley Wrestling Club Has New Home
You may have noticed a new window display on Main Street in Stanley and that is because the Stanley Wrestling Club recently purchased the building for the purpose of opening up a year-round wrestling facility for their growing club. SWC was established as a non-profit organization in December of 2019 and has been growing in size year after year. What started out as a few volunteer coaches running practices has morphed into an exploding and very successful club with more than 10 volunteer coaches helping out. There are currently around 75+ kids that come out for youth wrestling in the Stanley area each season and the number is expected to continue to grow. With the addition of women’s wrestling now as a sanctioned high school sport there has been a spark of continued interest for young girls to give wrestling a try! In addition to the kids participating, the Stanley Wrestling Club has two competitive and successful dual teams that compete during the season. Youth wrestling is such a large part of not only the Stanley community, but also the surrounding communities as well!! It is so important for our smaller towns to be able to provide youth activities (like wrestling) to the area, because if we don't, we will lose kids to programs in larger towns.
With the growing club there became an issue of size and space to accommodate everyone during practice times.
