Stanley Student Completes Honor Society Project

Stanley Student Completes Honor Society Project

Stanley High School senior and National Honor Society member Drake Schlosser found a way to combine his love of being active with his desire to give back to the community. For his NHS service project, Drake organized a special event that brought the high school varsity basketball team to the elementary school for a fun-filled recess with the younger students.
Wanting to encourage kids to stay active and engaged, Drake saw an opportunity to make a difference. With the support of his teammates and coaches, he arranged for the varsity players to visit the elementary school, where they spent recess playing with the students. The younger kids had the chance to interact with their high school role models in an exciting and meaningful way. “It was such a fun experience, not just for the elementary students but for us as well,” Drake said. “Seeing how excited they were to play with us made it all worth it.”

The energy on the playground was electric as the younger students eagerly joined in, laughing, running, and cheering each other on. The event created a special bond between the high school athletes and the elementary students, fostering a sense of school spirit and community.
Teachers and staff at the elementary school appreciated the initiative, noting the positive impact it had on the students. “The kids absolutely loved it,” one teacher shared. “It was a great way to promote teamwork, exercise, and fun. They were talking about it for the rest of the day!”
Drake’s project exemplifies the true spirit of the National Honor Society - leadership, service, and character. By using outdoor play as a bridge between students of different ages, he not only encouraged physical activity but also created lasting memories for both the varsity players and the elementary students.
With the overwhelming success of the event, many hope this becomes a new tradition at Stanley High School. Whether it’s through basketball, outdoor play or other activities, Drake’s project serves as an inspiration for future students looking to make a difference in their community.
