Stanley, New Town Place At Regions

Stanley, New Town Place At Regions

Stanley’s One Act Play took first place at the Region 9 competition held on Wednesday, Nov. 5 in Watford City, while New Town took second. Both teams have earned the right to compete at the State Competition set for November 24 and 25 in Jamestown at both the Jamestown High School and the University of Jamestown.
Stanley’s Director Chase Glueckert said the hard work of the kids paid off so well at the regional competition. He also said that Watford City has a fantastic facility that students adapted to well.
This year, there were seven schools in total competing. Glueckert said, “This year’s regionals were definitely more competitive, with schools bringing better quality plays and growing their theatrical abilities over the last three years. This region will get some serious competition in the future, which is a really exciting challenge, and these kids are ready.” As for his students, he said, “These kids have a bunch of theater experience as well, and they have participated in roughly 3 to 7 plays that I have directed. Their experience shone brightly as the team also won the ensemble acting award, given to the team whose judges could not pick just one actress or actor as the best. Everyone on the team shone as one, earning this award.”
Before State, the community can come and see the play on Friday, Nov. 14th at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Sibyl Center.
Glueckert says, “Our play is family-friendly as well. The drama club will be setting some ambitious goals for State, and it will require more hard work, but I am confident in this cast that they will do great things, and I am so excited to see what we can create and how we do as we go to State.”
This year’s play is “We’re Not Making This Play Up As We Go - Honest” by Bradley Walton and directed by Chase Glueckert, who was named the Region Coach of the Year.
Cast members are Kaylee Cotton, Joseph Cotton, Alexis Laparra, Alycia Laparra, Zoey Marmon, Elizabeth Nelson and Kaitlyn Tronset. Tech members are Serafina Beehler, Amanda Dick, and Maycee Ellvanger.
