Stanley Drama Presents Plays

Stanley High School’s drama department held public performances of their two one-act plays on Friday, Mar. 20 and Saturday, Mar. 21 at the Sibyl Center in Stanley.
The first play was The Great Nursing Home Escape with seniors Alexis Laparra and Elizabeth Nelson directing. The play opens inside a nursing home, with residents doing what they normally do each day. When a new resident moves in, the shenanigans begin. He is determined they should do something fun, something they have wanted to do for a while. They hatch a plan to escape and go to a baseball game. The plan is foiled when they are caught at first by the security guard and then the nursing home director.
The Stanley Drama Club cast for this play were Alycia Laparra as Albert, Sierrah Kanenwisher as Edwina, Anabelle Lager as Stella, Zoey Marmon as Libby, Mikayla Whipperman as Gino, Kaylee Cotton as Marjorie, Alexis Laparra as the nurse/director, and Elizabeth Nelson as the security guard.
The second play’s cast saw members of the first play joined by members of the Stanley Theater Arts Class for The Tick of the Clock.
The play opens as a young man is faced with being late for work, yet again. He gets fired and his girlfriend dumps him. As he stands trying to decide his future, he encounters a street vendor who gives him a special timepiece. This timepiece has the ability to stop time for the people around him. He uses this to his advantage and to create a little mayhem before falling at the end of the play and breaking the timepiece.
Cast for this play were Kaitlyn Tronset as Don, Anna Ross as Jo, Nora McDonald as Miss Brown, Elizabeth Nelson as Dillon and Alexis Laparra as the street vendor. All of the cast members from the first play were part of the cast as the people on the street.
The stage crew included Maycee Ellvanger as stage manager, Serafina Beehler in charge of lights, and Amanda Dick in charge of sound. Chase Glueckert is in charge of the drama department and served as director for the second play.
