Stanley Author Releases Book

Bailey Johnson has released her first book, “Don’t Leave Me Behind” and she celebrated the release with a launch party at West End Boutique in Stanley on Tuesday, Feb. 3. She self-published the book and then made it available through Amazon. She also has a second distributor that makes the book available through Barnes and Noble as well as making it available to small bookstore.
Johnson describes herself as a lover of all things fiction, specifically the romance genres. She lives on a farm with her husband, Ryan, and their four year old son, Riaden, where they have chickens, three cats, one dog, and occasionally a horse and some cows. She has been writing stories since she was in high school and her husband convinced her it was time to try sharing them.
Kane Ridge Ranch started in December of 2024, when the couple lost a son midway through her pregnancy. She was devastated. Mother’s Day year felt impossible to get through, so she sat down and wrote a story. It was a fluffy novel that she says had no substance and all the good vibes. That story has transformed into a 90k book full of grit and emotion that took her by surprise. She says, “I needed that fluffy book to get me through that week, but the product I have now is something I am so, so proud of. I cannot wait to share it with you!”
That first story is a novella that will be sent to emails of those who subscribe on her website. This story starts with a dream, and some hope. Kane Ridge Ranch was born from hard work and perseverance passed down from generation to generation. Now, one of the largest working cattle ranches in the Country, the story follows the journey of Orson and Marcy Kane as they navigate running a ranch, raising six children and all the hardships that come along with each new stage of life.
As for this book “Don’t Leave Me Behind”, it is the first in a series of six books. Each book will follow the story of one of the six children. This story follows Clayton Trager and Leni Kane. Ten years ago, Clayton Traeger vanished from Leni Kane’s life without a word. Now she’s back home: jobless, heartbroken, and walking into the cabin she thought was empty. It’s not. He’s there. Leni swore she hated him. Clayton swore he’d moved on. Both were lying.
Forced proximity turns ten years of tension into wildfire. The boy she once loved is now the man who makes her feel safe again. But Leni didn’t come home empty-handed. She’s carrying secrets. And some truths hit harder than heartbreak. A childhood-crush to enemies-to-lovers romance with a broody cowboy deputy, ranch setting, second chances, and the kind of slow-burn heat that will set the pages on fire.
Book two in the series is ready for editing and Johnson is looking to publish that in August of this year. She also has a separate novella that will be ready to release in May.
