Stanley Ambulance Service Wants You!

Stanley Ambulance Service Wants You!

As of January 1, the services provided for Stanley Rural Ambulance District have changed. The board had called for bids for service to be opened at their December 14 meeting.  On December 14, the district accepted the resignation of Ambulance Resources, the previous ambulance service provider. With two bids received, the board moved to accept the bid from Swanson, Jenkins and Coddington. The changeover in providers was seamless with uninterrupted service.
The company provides a range of administrative, operational and financial consulting services to help EMS providers better serve their communities. They have been providing ambulance service management for rural EMS systems since 2018. They are also experienced EMS educators providing initial and continuing EMS education to students and providers across the United States. The company currently provides management consulting to the Killdeer Area Ambulance Service as well as providing the staffing and management of the Stanley Rural Ambulance District.
While Stanley is the only customer they currently do staffing for, they recognized the need. In fact, the shortage of EMTs and paramedics is felt throughout the United States. In North Dakota, Timothy Swanson says, they tend to congregate to the larger cities with good paying jobs. With the tight labor market, they say that hiring a new paramedic or EMT likely leaves a vacancy somewhere else.
The three partners work from their own offices. Timothy Swanson lives in Bottineau, where they have their main office. Another partner works out of his office in Salt Lake City and the third from an office in Dallas, Tx. They had worked independently for the last four or five years, but have moved to combine their efforts under one umbrella.
Each of them brings their own skillset to the company. Brock Jenkins brings experience in clinical research and patient care guidelines. Raine Coddington’s focus is EMS education and consulting. Tim’s focus has been operational with EMS working to create a whole system of support. Swanson also manages the Bottineau Ambulance District outside of the partnership.
The contract with Stanley calls for advanced life support with a paramedic on staff twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week. There are also two basic life support personnel (EMTs) working on the same schedule.
They currently have a staff of fifteen in Stanley, including seven full-time staff members, two paramedics and five EMTs. There are eight part-time employees. They are also staffed with the efforts of local paid on call staff to supplement the contracted staff. They currently have one on-call EMT that lives in Stanley, a number they would like to add to.
