Plan To Spend The 4th In Stanley

Events are taking shape for the July 4 celebration in Stanley with events set for Saturday, July 4.
Things will kick off on Saturday, July 4, with the Firecracker 5K run hosted by the Stanley Park Board. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. at the Sauber Sports Complex parking lot. The run will start at 8:15 a.m. and wrap up with prize giveaways at 9:15 a.m. An alternate course will be available for those who do not want to do the full 5K. Proceeds will go towards the outdoor pool project. Join the Stanley Blue Jay cheerleaders for a fundraising breakfast from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. in the Prairie Ford parking lot on Main Street.
Parades will start with the Kiddie Parade at 10:30 a.m. Participants are asked to meet at the Bravera Bank parking lot starting at 10:00 a.m.
The Main Parade will follow the kiddie parade, featuring floats, antique cars, equipment, horses and more. Entrants can contact Matt Evans at 629-0373, Kyle Hanson at 621-6042 or Steve Springan at 629-1352.
More entrants are always welcome with line-up scheduled to end at 10:30 a.m. Participants are asked to be there early to ensure a smooth lineup and timely start to the parade. Floats will line up on the frontage road by K Squared Electric, north of the underpass. Classic cars will line up starting on 3rd Ave. NW and continuing on 1st St. NW. All large equipment and saddle clubs will line up on Railroad Ave.
Following the parade, the car show and shine will be held at Flickertail Village. The village will be open that day from 1 to 4 p.m. as host of the show. The show is open to all makes and models. You can register as you arrive and registration is free. Flickertail Village is offering free food, ice cream and popcorn during the car show. The Village will also be open on Friday, July 3 and Sunday, July 5 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Lunch will also be served at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church from noon to 2:00 p.m. The Stanley Women of Today will be serving lunch in Wilson Park until 1:30 p.m.
There will be free swimming at the outdoor pool from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with games and more for the kids.
As always, the day will wrap up with Fireworks at dusk over the Knife, south of the Mountrail County Fair Building and South Complex. You can use the parking lot at the Fair Building and South Complex to get the best seat in the house as the Stanley Volunteer Firemen set off this annual spectacular sponsored by the Stanley Commercial Club and the Fire Department.
July 4 festivities are always full of family gatherings and class reunions as well. Many will also participate in the July 4 parade.

Looking for other activities in Mountrail County? Parshall will be hosting their fireworks display on Friday, July 3 at dark at the North Park between the swimming pool and Cenex. Boomers for Brad will also be returning to Van Hook at the east boat launch lot on Friday, July 3 at dusk. This fireworks display is held annually in memory of Brad Borud.
White Earth Bay has a full slate of events including a concert with Mere Mortals on July 3. Saturday will see their annual 4th of July Boat Parade at 11 a.m. with the day ending with another free concert by Mere Mortals at 8:00 p.m.
