Parshall Ambulance Donates Building To TAT Law Enforcement

Parshall Ambulance Donates Building To TAT Law Enforcement

When Parshall’s ambulance service built a new building, they found a unique way to partner with law enforcement services.
It started when the Parshall Ambulance Service came to a training last year with the Three Affiliated Tribes Law Enforcement. At that time, they were asked what they planned to do with the building. They put Training Sergeant Matthew Heidbreder on their agenda for the next meeting, where he asked about donating the old facility to the TAT department.
He pointed to instances, especially during the winter, where response times can be difficult, especially if the officers are closer to New Town. They knew there had to be a better way. The board was receptive to the request and the process began to transfer the property.

The goal of the building is to enhance law enforcement presence in Parshall. Although they cannot guarantee 24/7 coverage due to staffing, it will be a way to improve community presence and service to this second largest community on the Fort Berthold Reservation.
This substation will be used as a training facility and also a space for officers to rest, warm up in the winter or have their meals. They building also has living quarters and they are working to furnish it so that in the event of a blizzard or other reasons, they could have an officer stationed there.
The building will be owned and maintained by the TAT Law Enforcement Services, but will be open for use by other area law enforcement including the Mountrail County Sheriff’s Department, ND Highway Patrol and ND Game and Fish.
