New Updates Provide More At Gutter Alley
Christmas came early for bowlers at Gutter Alley in Stanley as the latest updates have been installed. Earlier this season, bowlers found that the facility had been painted in modern, neutral colors and new tables and chairs were installed.
About a month ago, the new lane conditioner came in and has provided a better, more consistent surface on the lanes.
The second week of December saw the installation of the new scoring system and new televisions and signage were installed that weekend.
The new scoring system was scheduled to be installed in September, but due to unforeseen delays with the installer, it was not done until this month. This new system comes with bigger monitors and updated software. Because it is run on a separate computer, it will also be able to take care of the secretary’s duties for the leagues. This system is more up to date and user friendly and was long overdue as the older system was unreliable and parts were no longer available.
Everything is now in the new computer system, including the list of bowlers on each lane. The computer sends the information to the monitors and at the end of the night it comes back to the computer. For the leagues, it is then populated into the computer program and they can print standings from there.
With no bowling the week the system was installed, bowlers got their first real look at the new system this past week during leagues. Holly Kaiser says that there were many compliments from the bowlers not only on the new system, but also thanking them for doing so much to keep the bowling alley open for the community.
The new monitor system also has the ability to offer advertising opportunities and there is a scroll along the bottom that Gutter Alley is using to promote upcoming events at the bowling alley.
The new lane conditioner was also on Holly and Chris Kaiser’s list of things they wanted to see most when they took over managing the lanes. Because of its age, there was no technical support from the company for the old machine. While they dealt with the issues with the machine and made it work, it was in need of replacement. This new conditioner is making a big difference for bowlers. While it is more efficient, it is also spreading the oil more evenly on the lanes and there is more oil on the surface creating better conditions.
