New Town City Library Team Embarks On First Lego Challenge

The New Town City Library team embarked on the UNEARTHED challenge FIRST® LEGO® this past Saturday.
The 2025-2026 season marks New Town City Library’s first year trying the first Tech challenge program. The program is designed for middle school and high school students.
First Tech Challenge team Rezzy Dinos is coached by Khadero Taylor and Julie Herbel. New Town City Library Lego league administrator Kim Blue with students Curtis K., Tyrell D., and London T. competed in Bismarck, ND.
The team did not place but still won as they gained experience and more knowledge throughout the entire program.
First Lego League Challenge team Ground Diggers is coached by Cynthia Fernandez and Bethany Baker. Students include Hayden Tollefson, Kindle Anderson, Dalia Carter, Rose Weyrauch and John Emmons.
The Ground Diggers took 2nd place with their “Innovation Project”.
The focus of this season was on archaeology.
New Town City Library’s team began with the 2018/2019 season until COVID hit and re-started again in with the 2021/2022 season and has been ongoing since. This is the team’s fifth consecutive year competing in the Williston regional qualifier.
The New Town City Library Lego Robotics program is open for all Mountrail County residents from 6 to 18 years old. 
If your child is interested in robotics and would like to join, please contact New Town City Library Lego league administrator Kim Blue at 701-627-4846 around August 2026 when enrollment for the program opens.
The program is sponsored by the New Town Chamber and Reynolds Insurance Agency through the New Town Car and Motorcycle Show proceeds.
The New Town Car and Motorcycle Show is scheduled for June 19 and 20, 2026.
