New Town Celebrates With Parade Of Lights

The New Town Chamber of Commerce held their annual Parade of Lights on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The day started early with a Christmas cultural craft fair at the Civic Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There were 34 vendors this year. Santa Claus also made a visit in the afternoon.
The evening started with the annual Walk-A-Bout at businesses on Main Street at 5:00 p.m. before the Parade of Lights took center stage at 6:00 p.m. The parade was followed by the presentation of prizes and Christmas Carols at the city Christmas Tree.
Prizes were available in various categories, with the Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College taking home first place in the commercial division for their entry of Candyland and the Elves. Reynolds Insurance took second place with Santa’s Workshop; North Segment Property Management, third with Toy Story; and TAT HR, fourth with Polar Express. Other commercial entries included Elbowoods Memorial Health Center with the Grinch, KMHA Radio with Santa Claus Rocks, Mountrail-Williams Electric with Bringing Power to Christmas, MAFB 91st Missile Security Operations Squadron, Oilfield Support Services with Rudolph, and United Quality Co-op with Santa. This is the first year that the MAFB squadron joined the parade.
First place in the community/personal category went to the Driver family and second place went to the Taft-Charging family.
The Mayor’s Choice award went to the 4 Bears Segment with their Disney entry.
