Halloween Activities Have Something For Everyone

With Halloween on Saturday, houses are getting decorated around town to welcome trick or treaters. If you are looking for other activities, there are some options on tap.
The Stanley Commercial Club will be hosting the annual Trail of Treats on Friday, Oct. 30 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. A full list of participating businesses is listed elsewhere in this week’s paper. You can also find more information on the Commercial Club’s Facebook page: Visit Stanley.
Parents are also invited to bring their kids to Mountrail Bethel Home on Friday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Rosen Place on Saturday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Residents of the home and Rosen Place love to hand out treats and see the kids in their costumes.
On Friday evening, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will be hosting a chili and soup cook off as well as a trunk or treat. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. and trick or treating starts at 7:30 p.m. You can cast your vote for the best chili and soup. You are also invited to bring a cornbread, rolls or desert to share. There will be a contest for the best costume, with no gory costumes requested. The church is located at 326 Prairie Drive.
The annual Holy-Ween party returns on Halloween at the Stanley High School as well. Open to all area children and their families, the party is sponsored by Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Holy-ween activity stations will run from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. This God-Centered program has stations that include St. Michael’s Tug O’ War, St. Peter’s Fish Toss, David and Goliath, All Aboard the Ark, I’m Fall-O-Ween Jesus, Grateful Graffiti, FROG Flinger, Tower of Babel and much more.
Local businesses and churches are combining efforts for the return of the Fall Spectacular on Halloween at the Mountrail County Fair and South Complex Buildings. This event expanded four years ago and will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with activities in both buildings.
The Fair Building will be host to Trunk or Treat in the arena. Anyone is welcome to set up in the arena and hand out candy. Those wishing to hand out candy are asked to be at the Fair Building between 4:15 and 4:45 p.m. so they can set up, decorate their vehicle/area and be ready to start handing out candy at 5:30 p.m. Participants are asked to stick to family-friendly décor.
There will be food served by Cashwise. There will be lots of carnival games, music and more. The Fall Spectacular is free to attend. Costumes are encouraged for this event that is designed as fun for the whole family.
