Fire Starts Behind New McDonalds
The Stanley Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call of a grass fire behind the construction site for the new McDonalds in Stanley on Tuesday, May 13.
The fire was contained to the grassy area south of the businesses on Westview Lane thanks to their efforts. No structures were damaged because it was contained quickly.
The dry conditions and high winds could have made this situation much worse. Because the winds were blowing from the northwest, the fire was pushed through the open field rather than towards all of the businesses.
