Dangerous Building Comes Down

Last November the Stanley City Council awarded the bid for demolition of the Greenstone apartment building at 121 Prairie Drive to Chamley Pipe and Salvage. The council had asked for the bid to include not only demolition of this smaller apartment building and removal of the two foundations on the property, but also grading the property and removing the piles.
That work was accomplished in just a few short days last week as this dangerous building was brought to the ground and removed by Chamley.
The property had been returned to the city by tax deed sale in 2023 with the council at first offering the property for sale in the event there was a contractor that would be willing to take on finishing the building. When that did not happen, they proceeded with the demolition process. The other apartment building has been sold with the purchaser, Jesse Weyrauch, LLC, planning to finish the building. That agreement covers the conditions the city set for work on the building under contract for deed.
