Celebrating A Milestone Reunion

Celebrating A Milestone Reunion

The Palermo city building was full on Saturday, June 27 as a large crowd turned out for the 100th official Palermo Bobcat School Reunion. They celebrated this 100 years in a big way with decorations around the building, a special cake, and memorabilia from the school.
As was tradition, those attending signed in not only on a traditional sign-in sheet, but also in the book that had a page dedicated to each year’s class.
They had 84 people attend from Arizona, Montana, Minnesota, Oregon, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada and Florida. The evening included the sharing of many stories, memories,  good eats and fun.
In the years of the Palermo School, there were 394 graduates and 126 are still living. The oldest living alumn is Mary Mahlum Snyder from 1944 and Harold Bingen from 1949. The last graduating class was 1979. The grade school ended in 1986.
Former students and teachers gathered for the evening that held some bittersweet moments as they  decided to disband the organization. They will remember the last Saturday of June and it will continue to be a day they expect to come back and celebrate together in the future.
