Bell Claims State Wrestling Title

Bell Claims State Wrestling Title

Stanley’s Cohen Bell entered the Class B State Wrestling Tournament in Fargo last week as the number one seed at 133 pounds. This was Bell’s fourth year making finals, finishing second each of the three previous years. In 2023 and 2024, both losses came in sudden victory overtime. He wrestled at 106 pounds in 2023, 121 in 2024 and 127 in 2025.

It was fitting that Bell would face a rematch with Hayes Weinberger of New Salem-Almont. The pair had met up twice in the regular season with Weinberger coming out on top both times, once in overtime and on a decision at the region tournament.
In finals on Friday, Feb. 20, Bell was ahead but Weinberger was given a point as time expired in the third period to tie the score at four. Bell came out quick at the start of overtime and scored a three point takedown to claim the title to wrap up his senior year. Bell was also in contention for the Class B Senior Athlete of the Year.
Bell is the first state champion for Stanley since Gabe Davidson took home the title in 2003 at 160 pounds.
