4-H Shooting Sports Kicks Off

4-H Shooting Sports Kicks Off

Mountrail County’s 4-H Shooting Sports season kicked off last week as the archery events were first up at the Mountrail County Fair Building. Archers grabbed their bows and held their first night on Thursday, Jan. 8. The season will continue on January 15, 22 and 29 and February 5, 12, 19 and 26.
The air rifle season got underway on Monday, Jan. 12 at The Pines and will continue on January 26, February 9 and 23, and a contest on March 9.

Shooting sports is open to youth ages eight to eighteen. Participants will need to sign up as a 4-H member. Once registered, youth are also required to RSVP before each session by replying to the weekly texts. That will allow those on a waitlist to be notified of an opening. Failure to respond to the text may mean the loss of the spot. Pre-registration and waiver forms are also required before youth are allowed to participate.
While spaces were limited, if you are interested in your child participating, you can call the Extension Office at 701-628-2835 Ext. 1 or email Heather.tomlinson@ndsu.edu to see if there is space availability.
