A Trip Through The New Nursing Home
Last week, Dale and I were able to take a trip though the new nursing home construction. It’s been a while since I was in there and the first time for Dale.
All I can say is “wow”. There is still what looks like a lot of work to be done in the next few months, but the difference since the last time I was there is amazing.
Last time I toured, the interior was just framed up. You could see where rooms were going to be. Because I was with Administrator Steph Everett and construction management, they were able to help me envision how things would look. It was still mostly open space, though.
This tour, however, was very different. Walls are up. Rooms are taking shape. Office spaces are clear. Landscaping is done outside.
Meanwhile, residents at Mountrail Bethel Home get weekly “hard hat” updates. You can see those on Facebook. These updates show residents what has been accomplished and gives them a sneak peek at how things are shaping up.
For residents, this is there only real look during construction. They are not allowed into the building until the certificate of occupancy is received. That makes sense, because there is a lot going on in the building and there are construction materials throughout. I know it is about their safety, but I can’t imagine the excitement they must feel each week as the date to move into the new facility gets closer.
During the tour, we learned that it will likely be late February. While McGough plans to be finished with construction by the start of the year, there will still be things to be done and furnishings moved in.
I look forward to seeing the spaces again once they are complete. I’m excited for the residents of Mountrail Bethel Home as they get to move into these new, modern spaces.
The next phases of construction will address the hospital spaces and add more units to Rosen Place.
Healthcare is so important, especially to our rural communities. I’m extremely grateful to the administration, employees and boards that are so invested in making sure that healthcare in Stanley continues to be the best that it can be.
Who Else Spent Saturday Afternoon Watching Football?
Dale and I debated what to do on Saturday. Our original plan was to watch the Bison game and then maybe make a quick trip into Minot.
If your house was anything like ours, Saturday afternoon was spent completely watching Bison football. Well, Bison football and then whatever game you chose as you waited for the rain delay to end.
We stayed on ABC because we weren’t sure when that would happen. We decided just to stay home, but we were unsure if the game would ever resume based on the commentary from the Bison announcer team.
The first half was awfully close and then there was the rain delay. I’m not sure what coaches said to the Bison players during the two and a half hour half time, but it obviously worked.
Waiting out the return of the game proved to be worth it, at least if you are a Bison fan.
Next week brings the game of the year as ESPN has decided to pick up the NDSU/SDSU matchup. It’ll be another night spent watching Bison football and hoping for the best as they meet up with the number two ranked Jackrabbits. Two weeks later, it will be the NDSU/UND matchup. That one is always for pride with both teams.
As Seen On Facebook
I can see this exchange happening. It might be a car, a boat, or any othe item, not just a motorcycle.
Husband: My wife’s gone missing. She went shopping yesterday and never came home!
OFFICER: Age?
Husband: I’m not sure. Around 40. We don’t really celebrate birthdays.
OFFICER: Height?
Husband: Umm… maybe a little over five feet.
OFFICER: Weight?
Husband: No idea. Not skinny, not heavy… somewhere in between.
OFFICER: Eye color?
Husband: I think brown.
OFFICER: Hair color?
Husband: Changes a couple of times a year. Probably dark brown right now. I don’t really remember.
OFFICER: What was she wearing?
Husband: Could’ve been pants, maybe a skirt… or shorts. Honestly, I’m not sure.
OFFICER: What vehicle was she driving?
Husband: She took my motorcycle.
OFFICER: What kind of motorcycle?
Husband: A 2018 Harley Davidson Road Glide, Twisted Cherry finish, 14-inch ape hangers, Stage 2 upgrade, Vance & Hines fishtail pipes, Klock Werks windshield, JP Cycles floorboards, highway pegs, crash bars… (starts sweating and breathing hard).
OFFICER: Relax, sir. Don’t worry. We’ll find your motorcycle…
